Course Time! Week 5+6!

Posted by Ultrapuff - 3 hours ago

Got a double feature Course Time coming up! I figured since I left this entry so late into the week, I'll just lump these two together.

We started the splining process for our animations! I was really nervous about the splining process, since that's when I usually give up on animating because it doesn't look good immediately. However, with the feedback of my teacher and the advice that I had gotten over the last couple of weeks, I've been able to overcome my fear (mostly) of getting to that stage! I've still got a long way to go, but I'm making an effort and that's what matters to me. These past two weeks were basically just ping ponging between the walk cycle and the motion capture task. The cycle task was simple and fun enough, but the mocap was an entirely different experience. All that I know about it is that I don't want to work with motion capture again. The mocap experience was basically 70% fixing up the import and 30% actually fixing up the motion. There are so many things that could go wrong when putting mocap data onto a rig that a large percentage of the time it's better just to start over from scratch and try again. I'm glad that the rest of the tasks in the course are going to be keyframe animation. We started submitted our briefs for our final assessment! We basically just wrote down an idea for an 5-8 second animation and wrote how we would approach making it and what we would need to to in order to get it done. I'm quite excited for it! I think I've got a good animation!

That's it for this one! I think that next week I'll post some cool materials that I've been making! I still need to practice working on my personal projects, but class tuckers me out quite a lot, so I've found it hard to find the time.

Thank you and good-bye for today!
